[It occurs to Wally then, a little too late for hurt feelings, that Tadashi maybe didn't offer just to be nice and maybe is also desperately lonely.
Wally sits down, staring at his feet.] Me and Artemis- my girlfriend, we were living together before I- came here. Had been for years. ...I was looking at rings.
[He doesn't want to just. Point out that he's got a lot of his own baggage too (why else would everyone keep banging on about him needing non-tech hobbies?) but he watches Wally, sympathetic and tired before turning back to his own meal.
[Groans loud and long and rubs face] No- See, this is what I mean! You don't have to be sorry! You don't have to- to listen to me have my second breakdown of probably at least two dozen more! And I don't want you to! [okay wally tone it down you kind of sound like an asshole right now]
[He focuses on just. Eating this bite of food instead of answering right away. Hadn't he just said it wasn't like Tadashi and him were the closest friends, or family or anything. It shouldn't... matter.
He keeps his voice steady and tries not to let whatever he's feeling slip through.]

Wally shoves himself up, expression stricken, and paces a few steps. Runs a hand through his hair.] I didn't mean that. I didn't-
[His phone buzzes; a video call. Jaime. Wally stares down at it for a minute, drawing in slower and slower breaths as he calms himself down. It feels like the hairs on the back of his neck should be standing, but they're not, and it's agitating, and Tadashi is just sitting there eating his food and minding his business being kind and letting Wally be a fucking mess-] -it's Jaime. I'm- I'm gonna take this. I need to get out of here. [Before he says or does something really stupid.] -Sorry. I'll be back. Sorry.
[Said like it's the most casual, logical thing. He'd told Jaime that Wally remembered, Jaime had given them plenty of time for Wally to settle in wherever he was and get his bearings. Only stands to reason that he'd call at some point tonight.
When Wally goes outside the door, Tadashi will get up and toss his leftovers in the trash - appetite gone, really - and make himself busy. When Wally does come back, there are pillows and blankets on the couch neatly folded and ready while Tadashi is in his bedroom, door closed.]
