[Wally absently rubs the spot on his chest Robin tapped. That's the problem with talking about a future that hasn't happened yet; there's no way to check. Sure, they could go hunt down Gar and grill him, see what he knows, but the likelihood of either of them having shared anything regarding their friendship with anyone else was slim. Even with people in their immediate team circle don't know much. They just know that Dick and Wally are two peas in a pod, partners, best friends.

There's nobody else to talk to about it except each other.]

What if that perfect world you talked about ever happened? One that wouldn't need superheroes. What would you do?

[ It's strange how that works. Maybe it's because their friendship was solidified by hiding something important from everyone else, or maybe it's just because they're both a little bit too possessive. If something went wrong, really catastrophically wrong, who else would they go to? Odds are they'd both just retreat to be wounded about it in private. ]

... I don't know, [ Dick says, and he knows he sounds a little lost. Like the question itself is too big. ] I've never thought about it.

You could go with the cop thing. [Wally smiles and jostles Dick with his shoulder.] Still be a hero. Just with more donuts and less spandex.

11/11 - happy birthday

[ It's Wally's birthday, and Dick's gone all out. The cave ceiling is covered in a truly outrageous amount of balloons (did you know that if you buy them in bulk, you get amazing discounts? it's true!). There are five cakes, a ridiculous amount of snacks, and a big ol' "Happy Birthday KF" banner hanging in the main room.

But the important thing is presents, right? Right. So he'll be receiving (in red and yellow gift wrap, of course):

1) An upgraded pair of goggles that Robin's been stealthily working on for a while. They're shiny Flash-red with subtle yellow lightning bolts down each side, and feature the latest in anti-scratching lens protection. And in addition to his old goggles' thermal imaging and light/radiation wavelength detection technology, Robin's added in:

• up to 25x zoom
  
• a built-in camera with the same basic facial recognition tech as Robin's wrist computer
  
• the ability to send and receive images and video between any of the team's already existing tech
  
• and that wireless capability also lets him port sweet tunes to his in-ear comm tech. you're welcome.

2) That new video game Wally's been wanting, with an "IOU for one butt kicking" coupon.

3) A framed photo of the two of them in costume, arms slung around each other's shoulders, taken last year before everything went to hell.

4) A leather man-bracelet, in red, with a little silver symbol representing two covalently bonded atoms. Dick has one to match. It's basically the nerdiest friendship bracelet of all time.
